I Am the Light of the World. Therefore, I Will…
The very first words Jesus spoke over the dark void in this universe were, “Let there be light.” Jesus Christ infused Himself into the darkness as our source of light at Earth’s creation.
John 8:12
English Standard Version
12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Not only did Jesus declare Himself the Light of our existence but the light of life. Without Him, neither light nor life is present. He is both. Who are we?
Matthew 5:14-16
14 “You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; 15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
It becomes apparent then that the darkness swiftly overtaking the world is directly proportional to the presence of, or the absence of, Jesus. The less of Jesus, the greater the darkness.
Now we know why the Earth lies enveloped in darkness. As humanity moves away from its light source, Jesus, the darker it will get. It is also true that those who follow Jesus reflect His light, but as the numbers become fewer, the light will diminish.
People do not realize their dependence on life is the presence of Jesus in those they mock. As believers in Christ, we hold a significant responsibility to reflect the heart of Jesus
I am the Light of the World. Therefore, I will…reveal Myself to the world through you, as a beacon in a dark place, calling all who receive My voice into the light.
