With Wind and Fire

With Wind and Fire

Jesus chose the ordinary to become extraordinary. Average people, friends, brothers, tax collector, prostitute, a doctor, and other women were Jesus’ choice to bring good news to the world. People much like the neighbor across the street or down the road. Why? Because He was thinking of you and me. Jesus knew who we would relate to and to whom we would listen.

Notice what happened to the men and women gathered in harmonious prayer so earnestly that the Spirit of God could wait no longer. Blazing with intensity, the wind and fire of the Spirit burst through the doors where the one hundred and twenty bowed before the throne of God—the day of Pentecost had come.

What made the difference that day? The resolve of those gathered in the upper room would not let an audience with the almighty pass them by. They pushed into His presence and kept pushing until their fervor made the time ripe for the promised Holy Ghosts’ arrival.
On that day, the ordinary became extraordinary and would never be the same. They spent themselves and their lives with one thing in mind. Jesus! The breath of God lit a fire in them that never burned out. The intensity of devotion has never diminished.

The love of Christ still burns, awaiting our desire to push nonstop into His presence. It is my turn and yours to receive what His love longs to give us.
