A New Freedom
I have chosen joy when I choose Jesus as my Lord, defender, supplier, strength, wisdom, and purpose. No longer am I lost in my decision-making because I am not the controlling factor. Jesus is. There is no freedom as sweet as knowing I don’t have to struggle to be good or to overcome my failings because Jesus takes the lead. He accepts the challenge and fights for me.
My responsibility is to give Him control whenever He points out a blockage in our relationship. The hard part is removing self from the picture. Trusting Jesus with my life to change me as He sees fit is a relief. Trusting His will is far safer than trusting mine. My choices have ended in disaster.
Here are two verses I want to memorize. They will direct me to the source of my strength. Feel free to join me.
Habakkuk 3:17-18
New International Version
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
