
Expectations For God
Staying with the subject of expectations, I am constrained to ask myself, what expectations do I have for God? Are there good expectations and bad ones? I believe that to be the case because we all expect God to be true to His word. We expect God to hear our cry for help, fight for us, protect us, provide for us and fulfill His promises as believers.
My interference has messed up my life many times. Where I have gotten into trouble is when I decide what the answer to my petition ought to be. I look at the menu, choose what I want, and expect God to serve me. Rather than trusting God’s wisdom and will, I am in charge of delegating to Him what I want. Oops, try again.
Matthew 6:25-34 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
