Expect Great Things
And yet, we have to explore another aspect of the word expectations. This understanding may be the most impactful application in our daily lives. Our God is not a God of threats but of promises. The many times I have messed up, He has always been there to reassemble the broken pieces, dust me off, and set me on the road to start again. It’s like learning to ride a bike. We begin by falling before we get our balance.
No one knows our needs more than the one who created us. We can expect an answer when we come to Jesus expressing our impossible needs. We can expect great things from the one who moves mountains. He calls us to expect Him to move or remove the obstacle hindering us. He will transform the mountain for anyone who believes.
When Jesus told His disciples if they had faith as minute as a mustard seed, they could move the mountain. He wasn’t challenging them to move it. Jesus is looking to find a faith that is limitless in their expectations of His abilities to make possible the impossible.
Matthew 19:26
New International Version
26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
