How does Guilt Make You Feel?
Answering this question identifies where the feeling of guilt originates. We expect to feel quilt whenever we do wrong, but who is sending the message? Is it always God, or is it something else?
To live a life of joy, we must know who is speaking to us, especially regarding guilt for doing wrong. Why? Because our wrongdoing is the number one thing that keeps us from asking for forgiveness. We either-
1. Think we have to correct our behavior before we ask.
2. Believe we have sinned too many times to receive forgiveness.
3. Are too ashamed to approach God.
4. Afraid of what God may ask of us.
These reasons, feelings, or beliefs are what the devil wants us to accept as truth because they bring us down in discouragement. They take away our hope. Many of us move away from God entirely, considering the number of times we fail.
Do not accept these emotions as something God places on us. He builds up, encourages, sends His angel armies to cheer us on, and promises us victory if we ask.
1 John 1:9
God is faithful and reliable. If we confess our sins, he forgives them and cleanses us from everything we’ve done wrong.
Jesus always says “YES” when we ask forgiveness for hurting someone. God hurts when we sin, but more importantly, God knows our sinning hurts us.
Lamentations 3:22-23
It is because of the Lord’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed,
Because His [tender] compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great and beyond measure is Your faithfulness.
