My Security
I made a dramatic discovery while reading Psalm 91. It’s challenging to write a short post about a lengthy chapter in the bible, but I will do my best. I’m glad the Lord gave me this understanding. It changes my struggles into confidence and rest.
Chapter 91 is God’s promise to keep those who have chosen to dwell under His care secure, with no fear.
When He refers to pestilence, we conclude He speaks of a disease like covid, and most times in scripture, that would be correct. Pestilence in this setting is a pernicious and malign influence that is hard to get rid of when sometimes used as a noun.
Jesus is talking about yours and my Spiritual security in Him. “For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper.” Anything the devil throws at us, He will combat. Jesus is our shield. We will not fear the terrors surrounding us, and deception will not overtake or come near our dwelling.
We will see many fall away from our God, but we will remain steadfast as Angels attend our way so we won’t stumble. God says,
“Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.
15 “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him,
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
16 “With long life I will satisfy him
And let him see My salvation.”
When I choose to dwell in Jesus’ presence, He makes my way secure. He talks about our relationship with Him. There is no more tremendous promise in all of scripture.
As you read this chapter for yourself, read it in the first person letting Jesus speak His message into your heart.
