Words Never to Speak

Words Never to Speak

2 Corinthians 1:20

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through Him, the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Since God cannot lie and all His promises are yes, there are four words I need to eliminate from my vocabulary. When I use these words, they say volumes about what I think about God.

Are you ready? “What if,” and yeah, but.” These are not confident words. These expressions voice doubt. God told Moses he was to return to Egypt and speak to the children of Israel. The message was God was freeing them from slavery. “What if they don’t believe me” was Moses’ response.

In Jonah’s mind, when God called him to go to Nineveh, he thought, “yeah, but” this is not a good time for me.” He took the first ship heading in the opposite direction. These two phrases hold me back from a faith-based belief that God is good for whatever He says. No, “what ifs, or yeah buts” about it.
