The Difference Maker
I spend too much time rehearsing the negatives surrounding me. Trouble is a promise to those who follow Jesus. Hardship is the Christian’s companion, untruthful accusations are a part of the territory, and bitter loss makes up the human condition.
Christ experienced all these things while on earth. However, HOWEVER, the difference-maker also comes in the form of a promise. Jesus endured and took joy in what He knew was to come after the pain and shame. He accepted the grief for the joy He knew was coming in the future; to meet you and me face to face.
Hebrews 12:2
New Revised Standard Version
looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the sake of the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of the throne of God.
I must remind myself daily of the promise to those who endure. I already know my future just as Jesus knew His. My future is the same as His. I am co-heir to the inheritance of Glory. Let us rejoice!
Psalm 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
