Crooked Sticks
I’ve often wondered how God could use me when I was a captive to sin. The answer is in how God sees us. He knows the innermost thoughts and desires regardless of how far we have fallen.
My mother made delicious meals out of leftover scraps. God takes less than stellar people to reach the starving soul with the bread of life.
Is God able to use us when we haven’t gotten to an “acceptable” place? Yes, He can and does. Many people learned from and were inspired by the sermons and lectures of the late Ravi Zacharias. I know I was. I even posted his sermons on my website. Finding out his hidden secrets stunned the Christian world.
Morally and spiritually bankrupt he argued the existence of a living God like no other. Many people came to know Jesus because of his teaching. Do we throw out everything he said because he was nothing like the God he represented?
I think Martin Luther said it best.
“God can draw a straight line with a crooked stick.”
It’s a good thing for me He can because there are not many straight sticks available.
