Being Blessed

Being Blessed

I have a practice that helps to keep my feet steady. When anyone asks how I am, the expected answer is: I’m good or fine, thank you. Few are genuinely interested to know how our life is going. How are you has become a greeting rather than wanting to know our actual condition.
Wearied with their trials and troubles, the last thing people want to hear are more difficulties. My response to the inquiry into how I am doing is now, I am blessed. In fact, I am blessed. Even when I don’t feel the power of blessing on me, I still am blessed.
How we feel is not the criteria by which we should judge our circumstances. We must rely on what we know instead of how we are feeling. When we say I am blessed, it helps us remember who is the supplier of all our needs and the One who never leaves or forsakes us. Saying I am blessed keeps us from reacting to our feelings.
When the enemy comes in like a flood to strip you of your joy, say, I am blessed and notice the difference it makes.
