What Do You Want For Breakfast?

What Do You Want For Breakfast?

“What do you want for breakfast?”

“Oh, I don’t know.”

“How about cereal?”

“No, I don’t feel like cereal this morning.”

“Well, what do you feel like having?”

If you are or have been married, do you recall moments you wondered why you married this person? For some reason, has that loving feeling “got-up-and-gone?” If entertained, negative thoughts and feelings destroy marriages because they powerfully influence the mind.

If you are a Christian, do you become discouraged because you don’t feel the presence of God in your life?

Have you considered how often your feelings control your life and what you might do about it?

To start, emotions are God-given. Some are positive, such as joy, laughter, contentment, love, and forgiveness. Some are neutral, such as sadness over a loss or thoughts concerning a particularly serious decision. Other emotions exhibit themselves in negative ways: fear, unreasonable anger, hate, resentment, and unforgiveness, to name a few.

The solution to this problem is first to ask yourself the question, “Is the feeling I have true?” For instance, do I have good reason to be afraid? Does my fear come from an actual dangerous situation, or am I afraid of an unknown – an unfamiliar group of people, perhaps? Many fears have deep-seated roots and cannot be explained in this short blog. I’m addressing the situations we all react to daily without forethought; the times we consent to our feelings rather than truth.

I will step out on a limb here and say most people, most of the time, live life according to how they feel versus what they know to be true.

In the case of God’s absence from your life, you can always know that that feeling is absolutely false. He is ever-present 100% of the time. The only way God goes “missing” is when we, you and I, walk away from His presence.

Be aware that the enemy of your soul is very in-tune with your weaknesses and on your heals to make you feel many things. If you believe these falsehoods, you will be tripped up.

God is light and the author of goodness and joy. If you entertain negative emotions and allow these false feelings to rob you of joy, remember the source of such negativity and remind yourself to stop, for you are a child of the King!
