I wore the same perfume for years. Since it was my favorite bouquet, changing was not a consideration. The scent was so well-known to be mine, individuals identified me with that smell. When out shopping, at times an acquaintance showed up with the exclamation, “I knew you were here because I could smell your perfume.” It turned into a joke among friends. There was no place for me to hide because they had only to follow their noses when encountering the familiar scent.
2 Corinthians 2:14, 15 Amplified Bible (AMP)
14. But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us spreads and makes clear everywhere the sweet fragrance of the knowledge of Him. 15. For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which ascends] to God, [discernible both] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;
To compare Christ with a fragrance is a curious thought. The sense it evokes is a sweet smell wafting through the air to the delight of everyone nearby. As the lovely rose emits its alluring aroma to attract the casual passer-by, so does the one who carries Christ in their heart. This is the result from being a temple where the Holy Spirit lives. Transformation takes place on the inside that reveals itself as a recognizable change externally; described as the aroma of Christ to God. You become the sweet smell of Jesus to the Father that causes both believers and nonbelievers to take notice.
You have heard of the “sweet smell of victory.” Our triumphal procession in Christ is just that. Walking with Jesus is a parade of victory as we permeate the air with the SWEET fragrance of His presence.
