My Shepherd Love
Everyone loves a Cinderella story. An ordinary girl falls in love with a Prince and becomes his bride. After watching such a heart-warming tale of two people from opposite backgrounds on TV, I considered how few average people experience love with royalty.
Then Jesus’ voice came booming across my consciousness. “I am your Prince, and you are my bride!”
It reminded me of the descriptive story in Scripture’s Song of Solomon; not told in chronological order, but with an impacting truth hidden within its pages.
Here he comes, leaping across the mountains, bounding over the hills to meet his love, the tan but lovely Shulammite girl. Her brothers ridicule her when she confides in them of her shepherd lover. Because she was tan from working out in the sun, they thought she was undesirable.
At one point she thought she had lost him when he came to her door knocking. So tired from the day’s labor she hesitated to open. When at last the door was unlatched, he was not there. Desperately she searched and searched for him until again she was in his embrace.
King Solomon announced his imminent wedding. As the sons and daughters of Jerusalem crowded the streets for a glimpse at the royal carriage, it suddenly stopped in front of the Shulammite girl. When Solomon stepped out, she gasped at the sight of her shepherd lover. Taking her as she was, he lifted her into his silver-and-gold-bedecked carriage, to the banqueting table where his banner over her was love.
Look through spiritual eyes to see a king disguising himself as a shepherd to find true love.
You, dear reader, are the love of Jesus life. Spend time to fall in love with the Shepherd lover for He is on His way to receive you as His bride. And His banner over you is love forever.
I will rejoice greatly in the LORD, My soul will exult in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
