Free From Fear
One of the grandest promises in scripture is in 1 John 4: 18 NKJV. Initially, it doesn’t appear to be a promise, but if you look carefully you will discover it to be a pledge that can revolutionize your life.
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment.”
Fear is an emotional reaction to the BELIEF that something terrible will happen. Fear then drives you to FEEL you have no control over the outcome. There is a healthy fear that alerts you not to step to the edge of a cliff. I am examining the dread the devil employs to herd you from depending on God to accept fear, Satan’s favorite lie. It could be physical, emotional or financial problems you focus on rather than trusting in Jesus.
Because fear doesn’t dwell in Jesus, you recognize that worry and love cannot live together. Since God is love and has no fear, he that dwells in God and God in him will live free from anxiety. “If you give Me the dread, I will cast it far from you. I no longer want your enemy to torment you,” says Jesus.
Father God, take the fear that cripples and torments my life and deliver me into a trusting relationship with You!
