A Bitter Pill

A Bitter Pill

To instruct us how to put our reliance on Him alone, God often has to interrupt what we are doing to keep us from making deadly mistakes. He knows the consequences of misjudgments. A result Jesus wants to protect us from experiencing. Removing from our lives the objects of our misapplied affection may be what keeps us from suffering that kind of outcome. Whether it be money, people, places or things, Jesus’ mission is to rescue from harm.

For our future protection, He replaces the possessions we have depended upon with Himself. God Redirects us away from detrimental pursuits into a haven of safety.

Letting go of what we have grown to lean upon for support and comfort, is a bitter pill to swallow. It many times becomes a necessity if we are to arrive at our desired destination for if we could see as God sees, our choice would be the same as His.

Jesus, creator and the defender of our soul is big enough, strong enough, and wise enough to be the only guide we need. We especially need His governing presence in our lives as we see the closeness of His second coming.

Psalm 32:7 | NIV

You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.

Psalm 18:35-36 | NIV

and your right hand sustains me;
your help has made me great.
You provide a broad path for my feet,
so that my ankles do not give way.

I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
