A Sabbath Rest

A Sabbath Rest

Blessed Are Those Who Find Rest In Jesus..

The Sabbath- rest in Hebrews 4 is a call to celebrate the reason you are at rest. As often happens the difficulties of the circumstance overshadow what God has promised and you get caught up in trying to work things out yourself. In trusting your own efforts to solve your problems you miss the significance of Sabbath.

As Jesus rested from His work on the Sabbath, He reminds you He has already accomplished the work of salvation if you accept it. He created in you a new nature dependant on Him. He maintains your statice with God with no effort on your part other than trusting Him. And that takes work! This requires more than superficial knowledge. It requires a seeking after God with your heart, mind, and soul.

Celebrate His forgiveness, celebrate what He gave for you. You are a free child of God without the heavy burden of guilt or shame. We are to remember the Sabbath because the work isn’t future but was finished long ago on the cross.

Psalm 4:8 NIV

8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Isaiah 26:3 NIV

3 You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.

Hebrews 4:9-11 NIV

9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters Gods rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.

2Peter 1:4

4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
