May Others See God through You.
An interesting experiment on TV caught my attention. Easels with blank paper stood around a room where children to adults would take part. The challenge for the group, with no foreknowledge, was to paint a picture of God.
After a time, the instructor inspected each one’s rendition. One woman drew a house as God, another drew God on a cloud, a blank paper and a large, centered, question mark were other interpretations.
I thought, “how is it possible to paint a picture of God?” I soon realized this was an insurmountable task. Compare it to painting a picture of the wind. You can’t see the wind, you can only observe the results of the wind.
God’s desire is to experience a communion of love from His heart to your heart. This requires a deep relationship, not a superficial one that comes and goes as the wind but is genuine and enduring.
Once Jesus enters the door of the heart your picture of Him changes. You change. You meld into His likeness so YOU become the picture of God. A portrait that reflects the image of God to the world.
And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.
2 Corinthians 3:18
And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
