A New Beginning
Rejoice in today, for the Lord has offered a fresh start.
There is noise overload in the world. So many appointments to keep, fires to put out, needs to fulfill. Being inundated with chatter and clatter to the point of not hearing yourself think.
Jesus took Peter, James and John up on a high mountain by themselves. The face of Christ became brilliant with his glory. Peter was so taken with the grandeur of the scene he at once started talking. Even though Moses and Elijah were present, he interrupted them with a plan to set up three shelters to commemorate the occasion. But God stopped Peter with the announcement “this is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him!” Notice the exclamation mark. Be quiet Peter, you are so busy “talking” and “doing” you cannot understand what Jesus is saying. The three fell on their faces terrified.
When the Lord said “do not be afraid,” they looked up, “they saw no one except Jesus.” The focus of every Christian’s experience is Jesus only. Nothing to drown out the Holy Spirit’s power and peace. No distractions to hinder you from seeing the glorified Christ.
Start afresh this day by closing the door to deafening sounds that overstimulate your senses. Welcome a glorious encounter with God in a quiet place.
Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
Isaiah 30:15
This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
“In repentance and rest is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
Mark 6:31New International Version (NIV)
31 Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
