Troubled Waters
May your angel’s wings carry you over troubled waters.
If you have a relationship with Jesus or want to get acquainted with Him, you are going to face many troubled waters.
It is a puzzle to most people that as they are seeking to find out more about God, their life suddenly makes a sharp turn into chaos.
Whatever the devil can think of to cause you to doubt and disconnect from the Source of your power is his objective.
He will tell you the lie that God doesn’t care about you. If you believe that, he will chalk it up as a win for his side. “What have you done to deserve this?” is also one of his deceptive lines.
“After all, shouldn’t everything go swimmingly if you are a Christian?”
If you are walking down a road alongside the devil and possessing his same point of view, then you have no problem. He doesn’t have much of a reason to disturb you in your current state.
But when you turn around to face the opposite direction—toward God, then you are in direct conflict with an evil force on a rampage to stop you from defecting from the ranks.
What better way to move you away from Jesus, than to make your life as miserable as possible, and then blame it all on God. A guilty Satan will never accept responsibility for his actions. It’s always God’s fault. Satan invented the blame game, you know.
Here is the difference between God’s ways and the devil’s.
The devil promises great things, and an easy street to follow. He promises freedom to do whatever you want without letting you in on the consequences.
Then there is the exciting future he dangles before you. But, as quickly as he came, he’s out the door leaving you empty and in search of anything to fill the void. But wait, he’s not through yet.
Now he is “Johnny on the spot” with multiple ideas to fill that void with trinkets and bangles and addictions designed to destroy you in the end. And you ask yourself, “How did I get into this bottomless pit?”
Jesus offers you great things of another kind, that will require patient endurance.
The truth is, life isn’t easy. But Jesus pledges to be right beside you through it all; to guide you, to give you the strength to withstand the onslaughts of the destroyer. He will send His angels to carry you over this worlds troubled waters.
He will fill you with joy and love you’ve never yet experienced. His love transcends hardships and bestows peace during the most difficult circumstances.
Here is God’s promised commitment to you.
Isaiah 46:4 New International Version (NIV)
“Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am He, I am He who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
Read this passage over many times. Read it word for word, until Jesus is through speaking to your heart about His undying watch care over you.
