To Know Forgiveness
Blessed indeed are those who come to know the meaning of forgiveness.
A
friend and I attended a concert located at a well-known venue in
downtown Seattle. I had no way of knowing if the presenter was ill or
his vocal chords were tired from the length of the show, but it became
painfully apparent he was struggling to stay on key. Singing off key is
difficult to hear. It makes you uncomfortable and desiring to escape the
agitating sound. A person can sense when something isn’t quite right
about the expected pleasing harmony of music, color, or design.
When
God created man and woman, everything was perfect. The form and
symmetry of the first human in harmonious detail must have been vastly
different than today. To be made in God’s image entailed much more than
the physical attributes, but encompassed the ability to choose for
themselves. They had the gift of creating. Since we are told we use only
10% of our brain, they most likely were able to use all of their
intellect before the years began the deterioration process.
Imagine
having an appointment with the God of all creation each and every day.
To hear the sounds and see the beauty with no imperfections and most of
all, to experience perfect love.
In that setting, the first lie
was told, and the first lie believed. From that day forward the once
harmonious relationship between God and man was out of tune. And from
that moment until this very day God has been, and still is, in pursuit
of restoring that harmony.
Sin distorted a perfect picture, but
calvary made restoration possible. If you struggle with feelings of
guilt, or shame, unworthiness, it’s too late for me, or You need to
“somehow” make things right with an angry God, I have good news. Please
listen carefully to a truth that can change your life.
God the
Father, Jesus His Son, and God the Holy Spirit hate sin. They do NOT
hate you; they in perfect oneness hate sin. Anything that separates you
from Himself God hates. Why, because He designed you for communion with
Himself. He chose to create you. You are the apple of His eye. He loves
you more than His own life.
Zechariah 2:8
For
thus says the LORD of hosts, “After glory He has sent me against the
nations which plunder you, for he who touches you, touches the apple of
His eye.”
Sin touches you! Sin plunders you! He came
to rescue you FROM sin! He wants to destroy sin so it can never separate
you from Him again.
Deuteronomy 32:10
“He
found him in a desert land, And in the howling waste of a wilderness;
He encircled him, He cared for him, He guarded him as the pupil of His
eye.”
It
does not matter where you are hiding or what you have done, or if you
are as dry as the desert wind, or lost in the wilderness of sin. He
loves you with an everlasting love. What upsets Him is the thing that’s
keeping you from coming to Him; the doubt producing lies.
When He
went to the cross with a “feeling” of permanent separation from His
Father, He chose you over Himself. And He died one time for all of your
sins. For all the sins you have ever committed, that you fell into today
and that you will engage in in the future.
There are two things of utmost importance for you to understand.
1.
repentance is a gift to those willing to receive it. You can’t have
something you refuse to receive. A contrite spirit is the willingness to
accept responsibility for wrongdoing and then lay it down for Jesus to
take up. He then casts it into the depths of the sea. As far as the East
is from the West.
2. Forgiveness is release from guilt or
penalty of an offense. This pardon doesn’t change. It stands ready to
free you the moment you reach out your hand to take it. There are no
other requirements. Stop trying to find some.
The devil tells you
anything that will cause you to doubt God’s love. To believe you are a
lost cause, or you must do something to appease God’s anger against you.
All the other lies with which Satan inundates you is to rob you of the
very thing that will restore harmony; the very thing that brings you
inner calm and tranquility. The gift of being forgiven.
Psalm 4:8 AMPC
In peace, I will lie down and sleep, for you, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust.
Don’t make it harder than it is. Don’t complicate matters.
Accept His invitation this moment, won’t you and experience His sublime forgiveness.
