To Believe It Or Not
The Great I Am awaits a believing heart to receive the blessing of an abundant life.
If you were God, and you had just created man, what would be your most significant concern? Or do you think you would have any concerns?
Jesus had just come through an agonizing separation. One-third of the angels in heaven who were present with Him, watching Him, listening to Him speak, observing the selfless love that showed them who He was, took a drastic turn. After Lucifer’s criticism of Jesus, they called that love into question. They questioned God’s motives to the point of rejection. Because of not believing His words, they lost their place in the presence of the Trinity. And because doubt turned into disbelief, heaven mourned their loss. He did not want that to happen to the man and woman He had just created, so He had a plan.
In the garden of Eden Jesus brought Adam and Eve to a tree. Not just any tree but a tree that would require a choice.
The heart of Jesus cries out for their attention. He leans forward when He says to them, “the most important thing for you right now is to believe me when I say, do not eat the fruit from this tree. All the others you have free access too, but the fruit of this tree if eaten, will cause you to die. Nothing will be the same as it is today.”
Jesus warned them because He didn’t want them to experience the hardships and sorrows that not believing His words would bring.
Fireworks were always a big deal when I was growing up. My brother and I loved the fourth of July because we looked forward to setting off firecrackers. The most fun was to hold the firecracker between the thumb and first finger, light it and throw it before it went off. My parents warned me not to play around with them because of the damage they could do me.
One of these little monsters had a very short fuse and “boom.” Lesson learned.
Take Jesus at His word. He doesn’t lie or try to trick you. He knows the destruction it can cause if you don’t believe what He says.
He desires to fill your life with abundant living.
Don’t get caught holding on to anything that will go “boom.”
Taking Him at His word will save you from what wrong choices bring.
After all, He came to save you from peril. He is your everyday solution.
