Facing Giants
May the problems you face, not distract your attention from the mighty power of God to solve them.
“This day I defy the ranks of Israel, the giant Goliath bellowed, Give me a man, and let us fight each other.” David responded, “You come against me with a sword and a spear and a javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord God Almighty,” 1 Samuel 17
David chose a few smooth stones for his slingshot bag. One running fling and the giant problem came crashing to the ground. Israel’s fear filled army was rescued. The giant was dead.
David did not fear Goliath, but Israel’s soldiers were deathly afraid. The contrast between Israel’s army and David was David’s perception of God. He didn’t consider the enormous giant, that he carried a 15lb spear, where he got his training, or that he had never lost a fight. David’s focus was on an ALMIGHTY GOD!
David had absolute confidence in God who promised to lead Israel, guide and never forsake them. Israel’s army was afraid of Goliath because they focused on his size and reputation instead of how many times God had rescued them before.
If your troubles are overwhelming, consider your concentration being on the problem instead of God. Trust in the God whose power is greater than any giant problem.
Psalm 62:11
Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this:
that power belongs to God,
Ephesians 6:10
